After you’ve made an investment with State Street Global Advisors’ SPDR ETFs, it’s important you provide additional details to Link Market Services (Link). Link is the unit registry for all Australian SPDR ETF holdings. By logging into their Investor Centre you can update your personal details and set your communication preferences.
It’s fast and easy to do, and there are no costs involved to set up and use your Link account.
Below is a quick guide on how to access the Investor Center online.
A HIN is a unique number that is issued to you by the ASX when you become a client of a broker. You can find your HIN on your contract note, welcome, letter, holding statement and other shareholder communications. You should always ensure this information is kept in a safe place.
A HIN usually starts with the letter ‘X’, ‘I’ or ‘C’ and followed by a series of numbers, e.g. X0001234567.
Now that you are logged on, below are some items we need.
We are committed to providing you with important communications regarding your investment. To ensure these are provided in a timely and efficient manner we would appreciate you providing your email address. With our dedication to environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, we are pleased to offer all your investor communications electronically.
You can do this by selecting Communications, click on Preferences and select ALL communications electronically.
Cash payments will only be paid directly into your nominated bank account (if valid). Select Payments & Tax, click on Payment Instructions.
If you wish to receive your payments in a foreign currency, simply select Foreign Currency Payment under the Payment Instructions menu subject to certain terms and conditions.
You may wish to participate in the Distribution Reinvestment Plan (DRP), simply select Reinvestment Plans under the Payments & Tax menu (if DRP is applicable). If bank account details are not provided, your distribution will automatically be reinvested into additional units, other than for SLF and SPY, which do not offer DRPs.
Note: if you do not provide bank account details, you will automatically be enrolled in the DRP. (The DRP is not available to US investors.)
To update your Tax File Number (TFN), TFN exemption code or Australian Business Number (ABN) select Payments & Tax, click on Tax Details.
Note: if you do not provide your TFN, you may be subject to withholding taxes being deducted from your payments.
All investors are required to self-certify under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) rules whether they are a foreign or Australian resident for tax purposes.
To update your FATCA/CRS details, select Payments & Tax, click on FATCA/CRS. Check if you have already self-certified this holding. If not, complete the online form and submit.
Note: if you do not complete the self-certification, we are required to report information about you to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
